You wake up one morning and notice a lump on your breast.
You find out your husband is having an affair.
You stay with him for the sake of the kids.
You are three stone overweight and fed up with diets.
You’re the mouse that cannot get a man.
That’s The Naked Truth.
After last year’s successful sell-out show – where we got acquainted with Alan Ball’s sassy southern belles in Five Women Wearing the Same Dress – we’re again hopping the pond to bring to life a group of crass yet charismatic women from England’s working class north.
Swapping taffeta for Lycra, and a Tennesee drawl for a Manchester lilt, the six women you’ll meet in April’s production of The Naked Truth by Dave Simpson couldn’t be more different from each other, but they find commonality in what proves a rather revealing exercise class – literally.
It’s Coronation Street meets The Full Monty as five women struggle hilariously to conquer pole dancing in a bid to raise money for breast cancer research.
Directed by Ruth Fingret with Assistant Director Julia McNamara.
Featuring Melanie Araya, Kaitlin de Lacy, Hayley Flowers, Jeannie Gee, Melinda Ryan and Wendy Winkler. Meet the cast.
